MARINE BUSINESS INTERNATIONAL
owned and published by BALM OF GILEAD COMMUNICATIONS, a leading communications and events management company in Nigeria.

Marine Business International initially focused on advocacy issues in the maritime industry until February 2000 when a monthly tabloid covering happenings and developments in the sector was introduced into the Nigerian market. The tabloid later metamorphosed into a monthly magazine and became a valued reference for decision makers in the industry.

Since 2002, the publishing company wholly or in partnership with credible local and international organizations hosted major international conferences, seminars, specialized training programmes as well as overseas study tours for Nigerian maritime players.

The company enjoys a good understanding with regional maritime organizations that include the Maritime Organisation of West and Central Africa (MOWCA), the Port Management Association for West and Central Africa (PMAWCA), national shipping associations, professional and trade bodies as well as media/advocacy groups within and outside West Africa.

On 3rd December 2004, the Deputy Senate President of Nigeria's Parliament, Senator (Dr.) Ibrahim Mantu CFR, with other leading industry players launched the company's news website, the first of its kind dedicated maritime news service in West and Central Africa. This coincided with the maiden edition of MARINETRADE Nite, organised as a roundtable for decision makers in the industry (public/private sector) to interact, strategize and network in a congenial and relaxing atmosphere.

Three years later the West Africa Maritime Awards (WAMA) Nite, dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, integrity and quality service in maritime activities across the sub region was launched. The maiden edition tagged WAMA 2009 was held on Thursday 28th August 2008, at Airport West Hotel in Accra – Ghana.
